On the second anniversary of his graduation from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jermany Gray formally announced his candidacy to be the next Hinds County District 3 Election Commissioner. With this announcement, Gray reflected on the call to action that he delivered to his class during his Senior Class Representative address:

Two years ago, I graduated from the illustrious Dillard University in New Orleans, LA. In my parting Senior Class Representative address, I told my class that we must step into our purpose and help our world become a better place. With that said, it brings me joy to announce my candidacy to be the next Hinds County District 3 Election Commissioner.
I am running because Hinds County deserves an election commission they can trust. If elected, I will build our capacity to conduct elections in Hinds County and expand on how our election commission can serve our community. With this announcement, Gray will now embark on the campaign trail. He is running under the platform that "Together We Can Make a Difference." The general election will be held on November 5, 2024.
